Spartanburg Young Professionals Committees

Spartanburg Young Professionals offers several opportunities to get involved at the forefront of the Upstate business community.  Whether you serve on a committee, engage in leadership opportunities, attend social and networking events or donate your time and skills to philanthropic endeavors, SYP is THE organization to get you linked in to the Upstate.

Events Committee

The primary responsibility of the Spartanburg Young Professionals (SYP) events committee is to develop, plan, and execute events throughout the year for the organization’s members and potential members.  This committee is responsible for: determining locations and planning for SYP social, networking and educational events, working with the Marketing committee to ensure proper promotion of all events via eblasts and social media, partner with the philanthropy committee to assist in any volunteer/fundraising events, assist in securing sponsorships for events and act as an information resource for SYP membership on non-SYP events in the community.   The events committee is always looking for new ideas and new SYP members to be a part of this group.  If you have anyone who is interested in being a part of this committee please have them contact Colleen Rice at colleen.rice1@gmail.com

Marketing Committee

The primary responsibility of the Spartanburg Young Professionals (SYP) Marketing Committee is to develop and implement an integrated marketing and communications plan for the organization.  The marketing committee will strive to strengthen the awareness of SYP’s programs and activities and support SYP’s overall goals and objectives.    The Spartanburg Young Professionals Marketing Committee produces the SYP e-newsletter every month.  The SYP e-newsletter and website are vital communication tools that aim to share information with our members, potential new members and the greater Spartanburg community.  These communications tools are vibrant representations of “Who We Are” and what we are all about.  To this end, the Marketing Committee seeks to keep SYP members informed about Upstate business news, Chamber news, member news and feature members-in-the-news.  The Marketing Committee is always looking for new ideas and innovative ways to encourage our members to engage in enhancing the image and awareness of Spartanburg Young Professionals.  Please send an email of interest if you would like to join the SYP Marketing Committee to jriddle@spartanburgchamber.com or simply make a recommendation on the type of information you would like to see included on the website and/or in our e-newsletter.

Membership Committee

Work with other committees to help ensure a strategic plan to improve member experience as a way to increase member satisfaction and grow membership.  The membership committee is responsible for implementing strategies to grow membership through outreach both to individuals and businesses.   This includes ensuring that there are a number of tangible member benefits and member perks, instilling a true value in the Spartanburg Young Professionals membership.  The membership committee is also responsible for working hand-in-hand with the Marketing Committee on the creation and distribution of any marketing and collateral materials, the Events Committee in developing new events to attract new potential members and the Philanthropy Commitee in seeking out new opportunities for membership engagement through public works.  If you are interested in serving on or learning more about SYP's Membership Committee, contact Stephanie Hazelhurst at sarvai@thecarolinacountryclub.com.

Philanthropy Committee

Young professionals are part of shaping our Spartanburg’s future, which is why being engaged in learning about and serving our community is critical. We cannot lead our community if we are not involved in it.  The Philanthropy Committee has two main goals:   To get a greater number of Spartanburg Young Professionals members to participate in local philanthropic endeavors and to increase promotion of Spartanburg Young Professionals’ positive presence in our county.  We will accomplish these goals by increasing the number of service events to available to members each year, offering varied ways of serving, and providing opportunities for non-profit education. We will also work to increase promotion of SYP in the local media.  The committee will stay in contact electronically, meet virtually every other month, and meet face-to-face annually or as necessary.  For more information, contact Carrie DuPre at cdupre@collegehub.org.
